hi, i'm amy. as the title suggests, sometimes i neglect this blog.
i am an actress, improviser, singer, and writer living in nyc.
i’ve seen a bunch of movies in the past couple of weeks, semi-old and new, and i will now review them for you because i am a nerd, but i’ll keep it succinct as to not lose your interest.
the girl with the dragon tattoo: if you like fincher’s style, i think you’ll like it. probably more entertaining when you haven’t read the book. i just don’t see how a mystery can be compelling when you already know the twists.
midnight in paris: owen wilson makes a surprisingly good substitute for woody allen, in what is his best film in years. we all know we didn’t enjoy the previous few, even if some were distracted by that whole scarlett johansson/penelope cruz kissing thing.
limitless: POINTLESS AND TERRIBLE. also, there is a thing that happened that’s supposed to be serious and it made me laugh to myself alone for a solid minute.
young adult: this movie made me just feel worse about my inability to move on from certain situations and events, am i right, ladies??? also, good job, patton oswalt.
war horse: good CGI horse work (never really thought i’d write that phrase) but from what i understand the play is better. there’s a scene stealing goose that gets an odd amount of reaction shots. never thought i’d write those words together either.
shame: strangely heartbreaking. afterwards i found my way to googling “michael fassbender singing” just to remind me that he in real life is a happy man. random tidbit: i recognized an extra in the first scene, a man i’ve worked with a lot who always has really terrible coffee breath. so that kinda took me out of it a little.
there you go! probably unhelpful movie reviews! (but seriously if you see “limitless” as a new release on netflix instant and think, ‘why not? i have a couple hours to spare!’ just DON’T. i will gladly tell you about the ridiculous scene that i can’t believe bradley cooper read in the script and thought was worthy of acting out onscreen.)
